Home-Brewed Chai

 

Ingredients

 

4 bags black tea or the equivalent of loose tea

1 1/2 TB. sugar (organic cane sugar)

4 Cups very hot water

1 3-inch CINNAMON STICK

1/4-1/2 tsp. GROUND CARDAMOM (Peggy uses 1/2 tsp.)

1/4 tsp. GROUND CLOVES

1/4 tsp. POWDERED GINGER or 1 tsp. CRYSTALLIZED GINGER or SWEET GINGER BITS

1 point WHOLE STAR ANISE

 

Directions

 

Place the tea bags or tea and sugar in a teapot. Add the hot water. Add the SPICES. Stir. Let steep for 4-5 minutes. Cover the teapot with a tea cozy to keep it warm. Serve with milk or cream to taste.

Cooking time: 5 minutes steeping time
